Creating a Generic Class

Generic classes are not associated with previously existing styles. In other words, they are not based on type selectors like a style class. Generic classes are useful because they can be used to apply formatting to all content elements. For example, a generic style class can be used to center all type in a topic.

  1. Click the Add Selector icon on the local toolbar of the stylesheet editor. The New Selector window appears.
  2. Select (generic) at the top of the HTML Element drop-down menu.
  3. Type a name for the generic class in the “Class Name” field.

  4. Click OK. The new generic class appears in the stylesheet.
